Trump’s Tulsa rally disappoints MAGA campaign: Why we must defeat him

This Tulsa rally shows once again how Trump builds himself up thinking only of his re-election. Before the Tulsa rally last weekend. Trump “boasted of never having an empty seat at one of his events.” However, this was not the case in Tulsa. The “indoor rally venue was two thirds empty” and the outdoor overflow rally was non-existent. (See photos below) It is time the U.S. elects a President who is not solely “big talk.”

One reason why the rally was empty was that “TikTok users and fans of Korean pop music groups claimed to have registered for hundreds of thousands of tickets as a prank. After the Trump campaign’s official account @TeamTrump posted a tweet asking supporters to register for free tickets using their phones on June 11, K-pop fan accounts began sharing the information with followers, encouraging them to register for the rally — and then not show.” Apparently, “K-pop fans have been getting involved in American politics in recent months.” These actions resulted in Trump thinking that 1 million people bought tickets. Watch this video for a more in-depth discussion on how teens utilized tik tok to sabotage Trump’s rally. The fact that the Trump administration’s ticket buying process allowed this to happen and that the campaign was not checking to confirm the size of the crowd, shows poor management that has also characterized his current pandemic handling.

The Tulsa rally also demonstrated how Trump distorts the facts. “Trump blamed the news for the low turnout.” Trump said, “The fact is that a week’s worth of the fake news media warning people away from the rally because of COVID and protesters, coupled with recent images of American cities on fire, had a real impact on people bringing their families and children to the rally,” COVID social distancing and his falsely advertised large crowds were the real issues. Logically people who did have tickets did not want to attend his rally for these reasons.

Another issue this rally highlighted is how Trump speeches encourage racism. Trump “used racist language to describe the coronavirus as the ‘Kung Flu.’” The rally was also held on the “site of a massacre of black residents in 1921, and was originally scheduled on Juneteenth, a prominent African-American holiday recognizing the end of slavery in the United States.” With the tragic death of George Floyd prompting nationwide protests, we need a strong leader to address this race issue. If Trump sees no remorse in making racist remarks and disrespecting the black community, he clearly won’t be able to get closure on this matter. This behavior is one of the many reasons he should not be President.

Additionally, this rally showcased how Trump does not care about his people’s well-being. Before the rally, The New York Times reported how “Trump made the attendees of the Tulsa rally sign a disclaimer that they cannot sue the campaign or the venue if they contract the virus.” A good President would consider the health and safety of their people over another photo op. Trump has continuously failed to do this, given his mismanagement of the COVID-19 pandemic. Trump only cares about himself and his power.

The U.S. cannot afford to have Trump, who labels facts as “fake news,” as President any longer. It is time we defeat Trump in this upcoming election! We can accomplish this by reversing his 2016 electoral college victory. Do you vote in one of the five crucial electoral college swing states — Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina or Wisconsin? We need your vote against Trump in this upcoming election to beat him.

Yours Truly,
